There are 4 factors that contribute to the cost of wedding photography:
- The time and expertise of the photographer (Usually on location for 6-9 hours)
- The time of the Photoshop editor, sometimes taking as much as 15-20 hrs. perfecting each photo.
- The cost of making prints and/or albums
- The overhead of a studio, including rent, insurance, salaries, etc.
If you elect to have your photos taken by a freelance photographer, you still get the experience and expertise of a skilled shooter, but
can save substantially by not paying for number 2 and 4 above, and having complete control over the cost of number 3.
After the wedding, you will receive (in short order) a data disc containing the digital negatives of each image, along with the copyright
release which enables you to print and share photos as you see fit. If the more traditional wedding album is desired, there are numerous
sites on the web where these attractive albums can be organized and ordered. (Examples: shutterfly.com, somersetalbums.com,
and picaboo.com)
